What's Happening at St. Paul's?
NC Diocesan House has announced staff changes. The Rev. Canon Michael Buerkel Hunn will leave the diocese to serve on the staff of The Episcopal Church and to Join Bishop Michael Curry when he becomes Presiding Bishop. Catherine Massey will become Canon for Transition and Pastoral Care. Margo Acomb, executive assistant to the bishop, has announced her retirement, and the diocese welcomes Elizabeth Dawkins to succeed Margo Acomb. Click here for details.
A Blessing of the Animals was held on October 4, 2015, a blustery and drizzly day. The animals and people enjoyed the event, however, despite the weather. Click here for pictures of the event on SmugMug.
There will be a Newcomer class on three consecutive Thursday evenings, Oct 22, Oct 29, and Nov 5, 7:00-8:15 PM, in the Youth Wing, for all who are interested in learning about St. Paul’s. The class will be led by Father George, while other clergy and ministry leaders will come in to share information about the many opportunities in which to participate. Wasn’t the St. Paul’s Kick Off Sunday wonderful? The energy of the day reflects the joy and excitement that lives within our parish community. September 30, 2015: Life of the church goes on, rain or shine. And we’ll be busy this weekend with Lobster Fest on Saturday and Blessing of the Animals on Sunday. The forecast is for more rain, but at least lobsters and lobster rolls will be just the ticket for a cool, rainy day. Unfortunately, all those lobsters will have to be cooked outside in the rain. The Annual Pumpkin Carving and Chili Cook-off will be October 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. All ages and stages are welcome! Please bring your “gutless” pumpkin (remove seeds and pulp at home), carving tools, your adorable children (in costume, if desired), a pot of chili to be judged (optional, but prizes are awarded!) and a non-sweet side dish to share. The St. Paul’s Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) has courses scheduled for this fall. The original MOMS classes (for mothers of infants through elementary school) will be Tuesdays, Oct 13 – Nov 24 and the MOMS TNT classes (for mothers of teens and tweens) will be Mondays, Oct 12 – Nov 23. The annual Blessing of the Animals is scheduled for Sunday, Oct 4, 2015, 2:00 PM, rain or shine! The blessings will be held in the Courtyard if the weather is good, otherwise it will be held in the Parish Hall. All animals welcome. Dogs should be on leashes, cats and other animals in carriers.
