Children’s Ministries
- Children’s Chapel will be held today at the 9:00 a.m. service only – the 11:15 a.m. Chapel is cancelled today. This Chapel is for children ages 3 through 2nd Grade. Please follow the cross processional to the youth wing.
- Clergy Led Chapel for 3rd-5th graders will be held at today’s 9:00 a.m. service and at the 9:00 a.m. service on Nov. 22. Please meet the clergy at the back of the church during the cross processional.
- Our Children’s Stewardship Basket is collecting for Stop Hunger Now. Please contribute as the children continue their collection toward our $2900 goal that will sponsor a children’s Stop Hunger Now Day in May 2016. Money for this event will be collected June 1, 2015 through May 15, 2016. To date we have collected $706.67.
- Christmas Pageant Participation Forms (for speaking parts) are due by 10:00 a.m. TODAY. The drawing for speaking parts will be held at 10:15 a.m. today. Please return forms to Christine Ingram or Christa Magee.
- Pre-EYC meets next Sunday, Nov. 22 at 11:15 a.m. in the parish hall.
YOUTH
- Sunday School: The lesson today is entitled “Cost of Relationships: False Friends.” Middle School meets in the Youth Wing. High School meets in Room 10.
EYC Today:
- Middle School: Regular EYC 5 – 7 p.m.
- High School: Visit Episcopal Campus Ministry at NCSU. Meet in youth wing at 12:00 noon. We will worship with the State folks and then have lunch and should be back at St. Paul’s around 3:00 p.m. There is no evening EYC for HS.
COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS: The St. Nicholas Ministry will be hosting Coffee Hour today. Stop by the narthex and make your selection from the tags on the St. Nicholas tree. Then join us in the parish hall for refreshments and a chance to thank the St. Nicholas Ministry team for coordinating this wonderful opportunity to make Christmas a little brighter for children in need.
Next week the Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) and the Stay at Home Parents (SAHP) will be co-hosting Coffee Hour. MOMS is a special course which offers mothers a place to share the concerns and positive experiences that have influenced their spiritual growth. SAHP provides an informal opportunity for fellowship for parents and playtime for little ones.
CONVERSATION AND COMMUNITY an adult education small group discussion opportunity, meets Sunday mornings in the Conference Room between the 9:00 and 11:15 services. Selections from Brian McLaren’s book, We Make the Road by Walking, are used to facilitate spiritually focused conversation and to foster friendships. There is no need to sign up, no homework, and nothing to bring but yourself! This group is for anyone looking for something more casual than adult education forums in the Chapel, but more structured than Coffee Hour. ADULT EDUCATION: All are welcome to attend forums in the Chapel between the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services. This morning, the topic is Architecture of the Holy Eucharist [The Building of a Prayer]. Have you ever wondered why the words of the Eucharistic Prayer may change from season to season, or how it got to be in the form it is today from the first days of the disciples gathering to break bread together? We will explore the various Eucharistic prayers from the Book of Common Prayer and uncover some of the “mystery” of the “Holy Mysteries”! The Rev. Dr. Cathy Deats is our leader.
Our November 22 forum is a follow-up to the Diocesan annual convention which will be held Nov. 20-21. Join the Rev. George Adamik for a forum entitled “What We Did at Diocesan Convention.”
ST. NICHOLAS IS COMING TO ST. PAUL’S!
The St. Nicholas Advent tree is up and is decorated with over 400 tags identifying needy children served by local agencies that support seasonal farmworker families, orphans and vulnerable children, homeless families, families of recovering addicts, and families in need of reasonable housing. Please take one or more of the tags from the tree and plan to join us for St. Nicholas Sunday on December 6th. St. Nicholas himself will be gathering the gifts for the needy recipients at both the 9:00 a.m. and the 11:15 a.m. services. Gifts may be dropped off earlier and placed under the tree, however, gifts will be delivered to the service agencies on the afternoon of the 6th, so any gifts brought to the church after that time WILL NOT reach the children for Christmas. So please return the gifts by noon on December 6th.
Again this year, we have bundled together families, in case you would like to purchase gifts with the entire family in mind. You will find, the bundled tags by the St. Nicholas figure on the counter next to the tree. Help us share the love of Christ by providing gifts for these incredible children who endure many hardships. Your generosity in support of this ministry shows these children that they are loved in a very special way, by Christ and by his community here at St. Paul’s. We are looking forward to the day when the faces of our children light up with the love of Christ given and received.
Fellowship Event: Please join the fellowship team for our annual trek to Replacements Limited in Greensboro on November 21st. We will be meeting in the parking lot at St. Paul’s before 9.30 a.m. and carpooling to Greensboro with a stop for lunch at a place to be determined. We will be back at St. Paul’s by 4:00 p.m. Replacements is a huge warehouse emporium of silver, china, crystal, and many gift items so you can get a jump start on your holiday shopping. FAITH ON TAP: Bottle shops! They’ve sprung up everywhere. So let’s try a few of them out! We will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 – Tasty Beverage Co. – 327 W. Davie Street, Suite 106, Raleigh. THE LITTLE RED WAGON: The Little Red Wagon is always available for your food contributions to the Urban Ministries of Wake county food pantry. Priorities this week include peanut butter, soup, cereal, and canned beans (pinto, kidney, black. etc.). But anything you find on sale at the grocery store will be put to use, and if you can get multiples, that’s fine, we feed lots of families in a day. We’re also happy to have your extra paper or plastic grocery bags, to pack for our families who need food. Thanks as always for your continued support
STAY AT HOME PARENTS GROUP (SAHP): Join us in Kids’ Club on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:35 a.m. to socialize with other parents and find playmates for your little ones. BREAD MINISTRY bakes and delivers bread to visitors each week. Bakers are needed to bake two loaves of bread and bring them to the church kitchen two or three times a year. Drivers are needed to deliver the bread to visitors on Sundays after the service. Each of these jobs requires only a small time commitment and is a great way to welcome newcomers.
