NICHOLAS IS COMING TO ST. PAUL’S: The St. Nicholas Advent tree be up next Sunday with 403 tags identifying children in need served by local agencies. Please take one or more of the tags from the tree and plan to join us for St. Nicholas Sunday on December 9th. The tags are self-sticking and state whether to wrap the gift or not.  Gifts will be delivered to the service agencies on the afternoon of Dec. 9th, so any gifts brought to the church after noon on December 9th WILL NOT reach the children for Christmas this year.  If you have any questions, contact Colette Hibberd at 919-803-9828 or MM Cupitt at 387-7993.

ASP CHORE DAY:  Don’t worry about your piles of leaves!  Let ASP volunteers take care of it for you!  On November 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. we will have our fall chore day.  The teens and adults that volunteer for the Appalachian Service Project every summer are hoping to help you with your fall chores.  We can help with raking, sweeping, digging, and more.  Please call, text or email Susannah Vitaglione at 919-619-5103 or at susannahv@gmail.com.

ENNEAGRAM RETREAT: This retreat will be held on Saturday, December 1, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall.  This day-long retreat led by the Rev. Adrienne Koch will offer participants an opportunity to learn about and explore their own type through panel discussions, individual reflection, and small group conversation.  To sign up go to: https://tinyurl.com/y7wkyr7t.  Or you may contact Lanny Wase at Lannywase@mac.com.

COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS:  The Veterans and Military Outreach (VMO) ministry is hosting coffee hour in the Parish Hall following the 9:00 service today. One of their projects is Backpacks for Veterans, which seeks to provide basic items for homeless veterans who receive services at the Durham VA Medical Center. The VMO also works to highlight and support those currently serving in our military.

Next week coffee hour will be hosted by the St. Nicholas Ministry.  Each year this ministry offers parishioners an opportunity to contribute gifts to children of families in need.  Stop by to learn how to be part of this generous outreach ministry.

Christmas Poinsettia envelopes will be available in the pews until Sunday, Dec. 2.  Giving a poinsettia that will decorate the altar and worship spaces for the Christmas services is a beautiful way to remember and / or give thanks for the special people in our lives.  The Altar Guild requests a donation of $20.00 per plant.  Checks may be made payable to St. Paul’s, with Altar Guild in the memo line.  Please make sure the outside of the envelope is filled out with your name and the name of the person(s) for whom the poinsettia is being given and note if the poinsettia is being given in memory of, or in thanksgiving for that person.  All requests must be received by Sunday, Dec. 2, in order to be included in the Christmas bulletin.  Requests / donations may be placed in the collection plates or dropped off at the church office. Christmas poinsettias may be taken home following the Christmas Day service.

The Women’s Study Group will meet Tuesday, November 13th from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the Bride’s Room to discuss Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope and Repair by Anne Lamott.  From Amazon:” In this book Lamott explores how we find meaning and peace in these loud and frantic times….”  This should be a timely book to discuss.  If you have any questions, contact Leah Dail at LeahDail@gmail.com.

Adult Formation

Sunday Mornings: Today, we resume our fall series, Going Deeper—Ancient Teachings for a Vibrant Faith, at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel.  The Rev. Javier Almendárez-Bautista continues the conversation on our patron saint, the Apostle Paul.  We will explore his witness regarding the shape, order, and purpose of the Christian community.  What do Paul’s teachings mean for us today, and how do his teachings impact our witness as a community of faith in Cary?

Wednesday Evenings: Join us for Adult Formation at 7:00 p.m. on November 14 in the Youth Wing, as we continue the series, Reclaiming Jesus: A Confession of Faith in a Time of Crisis.  Drop in for any sessions you’re able to attend, as we listen to and reflect on Jesus’ teachings as part of renewing our discipleship and witness.

Photo Directory Update:  Due to low turnout for the directory (we had 140 families, but St. Paul’s has over 500), we are offering additional photo sessions in November and December.   Please click on the link provided and schedule your appointment.  IF you do not see an available date and time, then please put yourself on the waitlist.  I can only get Lifetouch to provide photographers if they know that we will have a full day scheduled.  The November dates are Nov. 26th and 27th and the December dates are Dec 3rd and 4th.  These photo sessions will take place in the chapel.  Please let me know if you have any questions Jillco0405@gmail.com.

MONTHLY DEVOTIONALS: “Welcoming in Christ” is the discipleship-stewardship emphasis linking St. Paul’s 60th Anniversary and the Anniversary Capital Campaign.  To supplement this, each month a special devotional reflection will be offered.  The theme for November continues “Expanding the Mission and Influence of the Church.”  You can find these devotionals on our St. Paul’s website (www.stpaulscary.org).  If you’d like to share your thoughts on a theme, you may email them to reflections@stpaulscary.org.
