The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) youth and adults are hosting an ASP sharing lunch Sunday, September 17, following the 11:15 a.m. service until approximately 2:00 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for the volunteers to share their moments and experiences with the congregation and to thank the many ministries and supporters who help make this outreach possible. COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS: The Prayer Stitchers Ministry is hosting coffee hour in the Parish Hall following the 9:00 a.m. service today. This handiwork ministry – which includes knitting, crocheting, weaving, and quilting – welcomes adults, young people, and children as participants. They enjoy prayer and fellowship as they make items for persons in need.
Next week the Men’s Group will be hosting coffee hour. This group fosters fellowship while providing various service projects and activities for the parish, including Lobster Fest, Men’s Beach Week, and food for the Parish Picnic and Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.
St. Paul’s Lobster Fest 2017 will be Saturday, October 7. We need volunteers! Help during the week of Lobster Fest, the day of Lobster Fest, and with a few follow-up needs. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: VOICE Your Opinion – TODAY: Join us today from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The Vestry of St. Paul’s has hired an architectural consultant and a capital campaign consultant to investigate our church’s desire to renovate and/or expand on to our property. If you are interested in hearing more about this initiative, please come to an open forum so that your voice can be heard! Our architectural consultants, LS3P, and our capital campaign consultants, Moss + Ross, will be on hand with other church members to explain what is under consideration. For this plan to be fully vetted, we need to hear from you. Child care will be provided.
Adult Formation: Sunday Forum this fall (10:15 – 11:00 a.m., Chapel): What Does It Mean to be Episcopalian?
Join the clergy and people of St. Paul’s this fall as we delve into the rich tradition of our faith: our biblical roots, the language of the creeds, the meaning behind our common rites of worship, and the history of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. On Sundays, September 10 and 17, we will begin the series by embarking on an overview of the geography and history of the Holy Land, led by the Rev. Javier Almendárez Bautista.
Throughout, we’ll reflect on how that impacts our practice of the Christian faith. Look out for a full calendar in the coming weeks, and be sure to join us for what should be a stimulating discussion.

MOMS COLLEGE CONVERSATION: Calling All Mothers of High School Juniors and Seniors and College Freshmen: School is back in session, so it is time for MOMS College Conversation to resume! Feeling overwhelmed by the SATs, ACTs, GPAs, and APs filling every spare minute of your 11th or 12th grader’s life? Does your college freshman only come home to do laundry and visit with friends? Are you trying to navigate how to be a mom as your teenager transitions into this next great phase of life? Then please join us. For an informal discussion where moms in the process can connect, and moms who have “Been there, done that” can offer reassurance that all of it is survivable. Unlike previous MOMS classes, there is no structured curriculum for MOMS CC and no weekly commitment. It’s just a chance to come together and support one another through the stresses of college admissions and our young people’s first year away from home. You need not have participated in previous MOMS classes. Join us for the first meeting of this school year, Saturday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Alana Loughlin. Children’s Ministries
- Welcome back to everyone! Sunday School kicks off today at 10:10 a.m. in the Education Building. Check the signs above the classroom doors for the correct classroom.
- The Children’s Little Brown Stewardship Basket is working toward our 2018 Note in the Pocket Sort Day, scheduled for June 3, 2018. So far, we have collected $492.58 toward our goal of $3000.00.
- Children’s Chapel will be held at the 9:00 a.m. worship service today and is open to all children age 3 through 2nd Immediately following the Collect, children may follow the cross processional to the Youth Wing. The children will return to the Sanctuary during the Peace.
- Children’s bulletins, crayon packs, and pipe cleaners are available on the desk in the Narthex.
- The presence of children is a gift to the Church, and children are always welcome in our services. If you feel the need, Nursery Care for babies and young children is available-please see an usher to escort you to the Nursery (Kids’ Club). Our Bride’s Room is in the back of the Sanctuary and is open to anyone needing a place for a crying baby or restless child.
YOUTH
- Faith Formation (Sunday School) Classes & EYC Resume Today! Come fellowship, learn, and have fun together this year. Classes meet in the same locations: Middle School meets in the Youth Wing (go straight there, snacks are provided) and High School meets in Room 10. The Education Hour is from 10:15-11:00 a.m. EYC “Sundae” will meet from 4-7 p.m. – a special time for special fun: songs, games, dinner, and ice cream. This is a combined event for both middle school and high school. Don’t forget to dress to play games!
- Parent Meeting Tonight from 4:30-5 p.m. After you drop your youth off and make sure all the paperwork/forms are completed, come into the church for a brief parent orientation about the upcoming year and youth programming. At least one parent from every family should plan to attend.
