Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS)
MOMS is a course for women who would like to devote time to their spiritual development. Caught in the busy, stressful time of raising children and nurturing the family, many women do not have time to stop and care for themselves. This peer-led ministry offers mothers of all ages a place to share the stress, concerns and positive experiences that have influenced their spiritual growth. St. Paul's offers at least one session of MOMS each year, sometimes during a weekday morning, and sometimes during the evening. Child care is provided during both sessions. The cost of the course is $25, which includes a copy of MOMS: A Personal Journal, by Paula Hagen and Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett.
Past participants have described MOMS as a unique experience, a place to discover the depth of their spirituality, often buried under the daily concerns of life. Join us for our next session! This course is open to St. Paul's members as well as nonmembers. Everyone is encouraged to share in this journey so bring a friend or neighbor with you. MOMS TNT (Teens and Tweens) The second annual MOMS TNT group kicks off at St. Paul's Wednesday, June 9 with weekly meetings from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The first 30 minutes of the class will be a time for refreshments and good conversation. This will be a 7 session class, meeting on June 9, 16, 23 and 30, July 14, 21 and 28. The final gathering will be for a meal with the participants of previous MOMS classes on August 6th. Due to the nature of this class if you feel you may miss more than 2 sessions, it is suggested that you consider this class at another time that is more compatible with your schedule. Whether you've already enjoyed the original MOMS course or are just ready to jump to the next level, this group is specifically geared toward mothers of teens and tweens (rising 6th grade through high school), taking many of the familiar elements of MOMS while also addressing some of the issues involved with parenting adolescents while maintaining spiritual integrity. This will be an opportunity to share as well as learn from the experiences of those participating in the class. Materials are $30 and scholarships are available. MOMS Course Frequently Asked Questions
When does the course meet?
The group meets for 2 hours each week for 7 consecutive weeks.
Is childcare provided?
Childcare is provided at no additional cost. We would like every woman to have the same care-free 2 hours each week.
Is there a cost for taking the course?
A fee of $25 per person covers the cost of course materials. There is an additional cost (approximately $15) for the catered Celebration Dinner, which is during week seven.
Do I have to belong to St. Paul's Church?
No. In fact, we encourage women who are searching for a church home or for a spiritual direction to take the course. There is no requirement for Bible study or for knowing about the Episcopal church. This course is simply for women who thirst for a few minutes to think about where they are going in life and what they might need for the journey.
How many women take the course?
An ideal number is 8-10 women, plus 2 facilitators who have already taken the course. We have had approximately 90 women participate in the past 8 years.
The comment we hear most often from women who participate in this course is that they did not realize how much they were missing having a deeper connection with other women.
