Just Mercy: Fall Dinner and Discussion (Sep 24 – Oct 29, 2017)

As a follow-up to the well-received dinner and discussion group on “The New Jim Crow,” St. Paul’s will offer another group this fall, reading Bryan Stevenson’s “Just Mercy.” Based on his experience as an attorney in the South representing clients who were people of color, women, and children — all of them indigent — Stevenson came to a new understanding of mercy and of justice. He ultimately founded the Equal Justice Initiative (eji.org) based in Montgomery, Alabama.

We will meet for a potluck dinner and book discussion through the lens of faith on Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, September 24 through October 29, 2017 at the Curry Center. Participation in the winter group is not necessary to take part this fall. However, to allow for depth of discussion, the group will be limited to 15. Father Javier will facilitate the weekly discussions. Please contact Andrea Johnson, jang7e@gmail.com, or Aleta McClenney, aleta@att.net, if you have questions.

Nextdoor Instructions

Thank you for agreeing to publicize Lobster Fest on Nextdoor. Here are a few things we’re asking:

  1. Please post this as an Event.
  2. Under “Choose Neighbors,” select Yours and Nearby
  3. For Category, choose Festival. Title is “Lobster Fest Cary“.
  4. Cut and paste this description, please:

Lobster Fest Cary brings the fresh taste of Maine lobster right here to Wake County! The lobsters are pulled out of the water, packed in a cooler truck in Maine and driven overnight to Cary. Dine-In and enjoy a social event or Take Out and make your own event – Live Lobster, Cooked Lobster, Lobster Rolls – you decide! Pre-ordering online (lobsterfestcary.org) is a must, as quantities often run out early in the day, and we hate to disappoint Lobster Lovers.
