Roots & Soul: Walking with Pauli Murray

Roots & Soul: Walking with Pauli Murray – Saturday, May 21, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Join us for a 90-minute traveling performance through the West End neighborhood, inspired by local history and the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray’s ancestors. We will gather at the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice, 906 Carroll Street in Durham, where the tour begins promptly at 10 a.m.

Witness the Fitzgerald Family’s determination for emancipation as remembered through the memories and writing of the Rev. Pauli Murray.

Together, we will unpack personal memories and embody collective responsibility with one another. Bring your curiosities; move and create with us! This tour is a collaboration between Whistle Stop Tours and the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. Parking is available at the Center.

Please sign up HERE by May 18 as the size of the group is limited. The cost is $10 per person. (St. Paul’s is subsidizing the cost to make sure everyone can attend.) Email aleta@att.net with questions. Sponsored by the Racial Justice Planning Group.

Also, look for information soon about the annual Pauli Murray Service to be held on June 22 at St. Titus’ with streaming and in-person opportunities, and a 4.5 mile spiritual pilgrimage on June 25 of sites important to the Rev. Murray’s life in Durham.
