ADULT FORMATION
SUNDAY: All are welcome to join the Rev. Javier E. Almendárez Bautista in the Chapel from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m. as we begin our Lenten series on Faith and the Common Life. Join us as we explore how our faith informs our public witness. This week’s class is “Listen: Hear, O Israel – Deuteronomy and the Habit of Listening.” Coffee and cookies are available in the Chapel narthex before class.
Next Sunday: “Speak: The Psalms and Nonviolent Communication,” led by guest speaker the Rev. Canon Rhonda Lee.
WEDNESDAY: We will begin a Lenten study in the Youth Wing, 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. The class led by Andrew Zawierucha and Leah Dail on focus on spiritual exercises that have enriched the lives of Christians for hundreds of years. We will learn about practicing and reflection of the disciplines based on the book Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster. Child care will be provided. WORLD VISION’S 30 HOUR FAMINE: March 10-11, 2017: Our Youth Group and Confirmation class are going hungry to help save kids’ lives. Every $35 we raise can help feed and care for a child for month! We will fast from 12:00 noon on Friday, March 10 until 6:00 p.m. on March 11. Our event includes a lock-in, learning activities, and a service opportunity. We hope to raise $1400.00 to help feed and care for 40 kids for a month and we hope you can help. Donations will be accepted through March 19. Please write “30 Hour Famine” in the memo line of your check.
APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT (ASP) brings thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Their mission is to make homes “Warmer, Safer, and Drier.” St. Paul’s is once again going with a team of youth and adults. This year we will go June 25 – July 1 to a location in North Carolina. ASP SPAGHETTI DINNER will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.: Come support ASP and enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by the St. Paul’s Men’s Group. This fun annual event is a great way to enjoy fellowship with other parishioners, raise money for the ASP mission trip, and keep your kitchen clean on a Friday night. The youth are looking forward to sharing stories about their experiences and discussing what ASP has meant to them. The dinner is in the Parish Hall and individual dinners are $7.00, a family eats for $25.00, and kids under 5 eat free. No reservations are necessary. THE FELLOWSHIP EVENTS TEAM invites you to the 2nd Annual BBQ Luncheon on Saturday, March 11th in the Parish Hall. Luncheon includes chicken and pulled pork, made with a special sauce, and served with delicious sides. Food will be served 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Take out will be available.) EASTER LILY ENVELOPES will be available in the pews next Sunday through Sunday, April 2. Giving an Easter Lily that will decorate the altar and worship spaces on Easter Sunday is a beautiful way to remember and give thanks for the special people in our lives. The Altar Guild kindly requests a donation of $20.00 per plant. Checks may be made payable to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Altar Guild Flowers noted on the memo line. All requests must to be received by Sunday, April 2 to appear in the Easter bulletins.
HERMANO DAY: Sunday, March 26th, is our annual “Hermano Day.” We will be joined by representatives from the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry. Please bring donations of men’s clothing and bedding to church that day. These items are for migrant farmworkers who have just arrived in North Carolina. Migrant laborers journey here with just the clothes on their backs and live in remote labor camps. The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Newton Grove, NC, provides men in 47 labor camps with clothing, bedding, food, medicine, and a sacramental ministry.
The following donations are needed and welcomed: men’s work pants (smaller sizes), men’s long-sleeved shirts (small sizes), men’s socks and underwear, sheets (twin are best), towels, blankets, dried pinto beans, rice and tortillas. Clothing and bedding can be new or used. Monetary donations are always welcome. Please make checks out to the “Episcopal Farmworker Ministry.”

COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS: Today is Scout Sunday, and members of various local scout troops are hosting coffee hour in the Parish Hall following the 9:00 a.m. service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, accountability, service, leadership, and teamwork. Stop by to learn more about opportunities in our area.
Next week Women’s Beach Week will be hosting coffee hour. This yearly event offers all women of the parish a chance to spend a few days or even a whole week at the beach. It’s a wonderful opportunity for relaxing, spending time with friends and for making new friends.
DORCAS MINISTRIES is sponsoring the NC Baptist Men’s Dental Bus on Saturday April 22. They are looking for dentists, hygienists, and volunteers so that they can provide services to those in our community who need selected dental services. The clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
- Thank you to everyone for their clothing contributions to Note in the Pocket. Our donation will be delivered this week.
- The 2016-2017 Children’s Collection Basket is collecting funds to host a Note in the Pocket Sort Day on June 4, 2017. So far, we have collected $1328.06 toward our $3000 goal.
- Children’s Chapel will be held at the 9:00 a.m. services only today. Children ages 3 through 2nd grade are invited to follow the children’s cross processional to the Youth Wing. Children will return to the Sanctuary during the Peace.
- Communion Class Registration forms (for baptized children ages 1st grade and up) are available in the Narthex. Forms are due today. Classes begin March 12.
- Mark your calendars for July 10-14, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for St. Paul’s VBS: Abundance Orchard: Where Faith Grows! - Sunday School: The lesson today is entitled “Difficult Decisions: Finding Help.” Middle School meets in the Youth Wing (go straight there, snacks are provided) and High School meets in Room 10.
- Confirmation Class: continues today in the Curry Center during the education hour.
- EYC Tonight 5:00-7:00 .pm: We begin our series on World Religions, starting tonight with Islam. The Imam from the Cary Mosque, Manzarul Islam, will be visiting us to help us learn about Islam. Our goal is to start building relationships, identifying commonly-held beliefs, and enhance the everyone’s own faith experience.
- St. Ambrose Jazz Mass 3/12: We are going to St. Ambrose in Raleigh to worship with them during their Jazz Mass. We will meet at St. Paul’s at 8:30 a.m. and return by 11:00 a.m. You must sign up by Friday 3/10 so we can coordinate transportation: http://bit.ly/2l7I9HF.
