Bulletin Announcements for Sunday, Nov 3, 2019

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS AND COFFEE HOUR:  The annual parish meeting will be held in the Church today following the 9:00 a.m. service. Please plan to attend this important meeting to elect vestry members and to hear updates about our parish. In lieu of coffee hour in the Parish Hall, coffee will be served by the vestry in the Narthex before the meeting.

Next week the Veterans and Military Outreach (VMO) ministry is hosting a special coffee hour to recognize our veterans and their loved ones. Stop by and thank them in person for their service. As a ministry, VMO seeks to provide basic items for organizations that directly support homeless veterans, annually sponsors training for veterans seeking service animals through its dog biscuit initiative and works to highlight and support those currently serving in our military.

ADULT FORMATION

Sunday:  There will be no Adult Formation today, November 3, 2019. Please attend the Annual Parish meeting in the sanctuary following the 9:00 a.m. service.

Wednesday: Please join us Wednesday at 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the youth wing as we discuss Emily Dickinson: Words, Nature, and God, a series on the poet’s life, led by George Van Arnam. Dickinson’s poetry speaks to the restless heart of many who seek to draw nearer to the God beyond creeds and sermons.

Fall Blood Drive: On Wednesday, Nov. 6th, we will have a fall blood drive in collaboration with our neighbors, Cary Presbyterian.  The collection will be in their fellowship hall from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.  The Blood Collection non-profit will provide a $10 “grant” for each donor that we have registered thru their faith formation program.  Not only could you possibly give the gift of life up to 3 people, but you can also have $10 donated to the church!  Please go to The Blood Connection website and click on the donate button.  You will need to put in the date of the drive to find it.  It will be under Cary Presbyterian.  Volunteers are also needed to assist in greeting donors and working in the canteen.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Lisa Walt at lisa.walt@yahoo.com.

PRAYER LIST RENEWAL: We ask that those who have requested friends and loved ones be included on the prayer list, email the office at stpauls@stpaulscary.org or call the office at 467-1477 extension 10, to renew the request.  Please contact Melanie Fairbrother by Monday, November 4, to renew your request.  Call or email anytime to remove a name.  Please do not assume that we know the name should be renewed.

STEWARDSHIP: VISION 2020

There is excitement, energy, and momentum stemming from your expression of faith in the growth of our programs and ministries.  Fresh opportunities are placed before us at St. Paul’s, and we are eager to support them in the coming year.  We are so grateful for your commitment to the operating budget of St. Paul’s in the form of a pledge for 2020.  We are asking everyone to reflect on their giving and intentionally consider the amount they are pledging.  Prayerfully focus on where your giving is, rather than on the needs of the Parish.

We will celebrate Stewardship on Sunday November 24th with a festive coffee hour and speakers.  If you have already turned in your pledge, we thank you.  If you have not yet had the opportunity, there are extra pledge forms in the Narthex, or you may go to stpaulscary.org to pledge with the push of a button.  Thank you for your commitment to St. Paul’s Vision 2020.

The Care & Share team would like to make parishioners aware of a new resource.

The Loss of Spouse Group hosted by the Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church is open to community members who have lost their spouse within the past 3 years.  The group meets twice a month – for dinner at a local restaurant, and for a monthly discussion group meeting.  For more information, please contact Margie Best at 919-303-3830 or mwbest@bellsouth.net or Melonie Wigley at 919-264-4401 or melonie.wigley@att.net.
