Video Streaming on Facebook

For those folks who would like some guidance on using Facebook, here are some tips to get you started in watching our live streamed services.  So far, we have had tremendous success in live streaming Sunday Holy Eucharist services and weekday Morning Prayer services. Still, we hope that more people will join in from their stay-at-home locations as they get comfortable with the technology.

  • No Facebook account needed to access live streamed or recorded worship services.
  • St. Paul’s Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/stpaulscary .
  • You can use most types of computers or smart phones with an internet connection.
  • There are many different ways that Facebook may appear on your screen, depending on how your computer is set up and what kind of device you are using.  So there is not just one “right way” to do it.
  • There is a Video section of our Facebook page showing both recorded and live streamed videos.
  • At the time of the service, a link to a video marked with the word LIVE should appear. Because we are limited in the amount of time we can use, there may not be any lead time, and the live video may not actually appear until the appointed time.
  • The quality of the streamed video depends on how your device (smart phone or computer) is set up (speed of connection, video quality setting, etc.).
  • St. Paul’s wants you to stay connected during this time of physical distancing. Video streaming on Facebook is the best way we have found to deliver worship services that we normally deliver face-to-face.
  • Closed Captioning will be available for worship services on Facebook Live.  You may have to click on the gear-shaped Settings icon at the bottom of the video screen and enable closed captioning.
  • Like what you see and hear?  If you have a question, or you would like to connect in person, contact us at newcomer@stpaulscary.org and we will be happy to help you find your way.
  • For questions or help on website issues, contact Administrator@stpaulscary.org.

Nextdoor Instructions

Thank you for agreeing to publicize Lobster Fest on Nextdoor. Here are a few things we’re asking:

  1. Please post this as an Event.
  2. Under “Choose Neighbors,” select Yours and Nearby
  3. For Category, choose Festival. Title is “Lobster Fest Cary“.
  4. Cut and paste this description, please:

Lobster Fest Cary brings the fresh taste of Maine lobster right here to Wake County! The lobsters are pulled out of the water, packed in a cooler truck in Maine and driven overnight to Cary. Dine-In and enjoy a social event or Take Out and make your own event – Live Lobster, Cooked Lobster, Lobster Rolls – you decide! Pre-ordering online (lobsterfestcary.org) is a must, as quantities often run out early in the day, and we hate to disappoint Lobster Lovers.
