Senior Ministry forming at St. Paul’s

Following the Senior Stewardship Focus Group luncheon in the fall, an Organizational Committee was formed to explore the possibility of developing a Senior Ministry at St. Paul’s. Committee discussions include plans to offer social and educational activities for anyone of age to be eligible for AARP and for children of older parents. Thus far, the committee has researched information on chairs with arms to assist in seating and rising safely for older participants. The information has been forwarded to the Vestry for consideration.  The Committee has also ensured that Assistive Hearing Devices are more visible in the Narthex.

The first educational program will be Saturday, February 20, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Rich Gwaltney from Transitions Life Care, formerly Hospice of Wake County, will speak on Advance Directives. People of all ages are encouraged to attend to learn practical tips on selecting a health care power of attorney and making your wishes known to your loved ones regarding future medical care. Please RSVP to Margie Best at mwbest@bellsouth.net or 919-303-3830 if you plan to attend.

An organizational meeting for the Senior Ministry will be held Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 PM in the Youth Wing. A survey will be distributed to assess interest in the Senior Ministry, ideas for a name for the ministry, and sign-ups for volunteers to ensure that this ministry can be viable. More will follow later about this event.
