Episcopal Farmworker Ministry Volunteer Opportunity

The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Dunn, NC, with the help of many organizations, recently raised $60,000 for an Emergency Food Fund to help feed agricultural workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. This fund allows the ministry to provide financial aid to farmworker families and to buy much needed food for the community.  The St. Paul’s Cares Committee made a generous donation to this fund.

If you would like to volunteer at the ministry, located at 2989 Easy St. Dunn, NC  28334, food sorting is being done each Friday from 10:00 to 5:00 and food distribution will occur on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 8:00 to 3:30. Diocesan protocols for wearing masks and maintaining social distancing are being observed and there is no direct contact with community members. Volunteers will be screened over the phone before arriving.

If you would like to be part of this exciting project to distribute food to those who put food on our tables, please text or call the Director of the EFwM directly (Lariza Garzon at 919-805-1607). She welcomes volunteers and will make sure that you are screened over the phone and also that there is a need for volunteers on the date you wish to come.

If you would like to make a financial donation to the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry please go to the website episcopalfarmworkerministry.org or mail your donation to the address above. Thank you for your support of agricultural workers during these uncertain times…

Nextdoor Instructions

Thank you for agreeing to publicize Lobster Fest on Nextdoor. Here are a few things we’re asking:

  1. Please post this as an Event.
  2. Under “Choose Neighbors,” select Yours and Nearby
  3. For Category, choose Festival. Title is “Lobster Fest Cary“.
  4. Cut and paste this description, please:

Lobster Fest Cary brings the fresh taste of Maine lobster right here to Wake County! The lobsters are pulled out of the water, packed in a cooler truck in Maine and driven overnight to Cary. Dine-In and enjoy a social event or Take Out and make your own event – Live Lobster, Cooked Lobster, Lobster Rolls – you decide! Pre-ordering online (lobsterfestcary.org) is a must, as quantities often run out early in the day, and we hate to disappoint Lobster Lovers.
