Food Security Update: Exciting Weekend; Plans for Next Year

Dear Wonderful Food Security Volunteers:

THIS WEEKEND
This weekend (November 20th & 21st) we will be picking up and distributing 50 dry goods boxes, 50 produce boxes, and….. 50 TURKEYS!! ? I know our recipients will really enjoy these for the holiday.  These are big guys, 20-30 pounds each.  These need to get picked up at 9:45 on Saturday morning (Julie P, Heather, and Aleta: a separate email is coming to you about this).

Since there will be so much activity at the Kirk on Saturday morning, I am also seeking a few volunteers to go to the Kirk on FRIDAY at about 4 pm to pick up the produce boxes and the dry goods boxes.  These volunteers will need to keep those boxes in their vehicles overnight and then come to the Gregory on Saturday morning to deliver them or distribute them.  Here is the adjusted sign up page where you can sign up if you can help.
Based on the turkey pick-up time, I am going to set (and publicize) our distribution time for this Saturday at 10:15 am.  It should be fun!

FUTURE PLANS
It looks like 2021 will continue to present a challenge for many of our neighbors.  I signed up St. Paul’s to continue to be a part of the team addressing food insecurity in western Wake County next year.  In 2021, we will do a food distribution one weekend per month.  I’ll create a sign up page for those 12 dates once I have more details.

Additionally, we will participate in lunch distribution for school children in the summer of 2021.  No one knows quite what that will look like yet but, again, I’ll present you all with opportunities to volunteer once we assemble a plan.

Everyone, please accept my gratitude for your involvement.  It is an enormous comfort and joy to be able to attend these meetings and reply “absolutely!” when presented with the question “will your church be able to support this?”  Indeed, St. Paul’s cares.
