Hermano (Farmworker) Day (Mar 1, 2020)

Farmworkers from Mexico will soon be arriving in North Carolina to begin their seasonal work.  These farmworkers live in remote and isolated labor camps just an hour from Cary and arrive with the barest of possessions.    The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Dunn, NC provides men in 47 labor camps with much needed clothing, bedding, food, transportation and medicine.   St. Paul’s helps with financial assistance and by donating work clothes,* bedding,* and food.   Donating to our farmworker Brothers in Christ has been a tradition at St. Paul’s for over twenty years and the EFwM counts on us as one of their biggest contributors.

Please bring your donations to church on March 1 when representatives from the ministry will join us at St. Paul’s.

Urgently needed items are:

  • Men’s work pants (khaki is best) (sizes 24-32)
  • Men’s long sleeved shirts (small, medium)
  • Men’s socks and underwear (small sizes)
  • Men’s athletic shoes (small sizes)
  • Sheets (twins are best)
  • Towels, light blankets, pillows
  • Dried beans, rice, canned fruit

*Clothing and bedding can be new or used

An alternative is to make a monetary donation to ‘The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry’.

Thank you for your generous support of this ministry.

Nextdoor Instructions

Thank you for agreeing to publicize Lobster Fest on Nextdoor. Here are a few things we’re asking:

  1. Please post this as an Event.
  2. Under “Choose Neighbors,” select Yours and Nearby
  3. For Category, choose Festival. Title is “Lobster Fest Cary“.
  4. Cut and paste this description, please:

Lobster Fest Cary brings the fresh taste of Maine lobster right here to Wake County! The lobsters are pulled out of the water, packed in a cooler truck in Maine and driven overnight to Cary. Dine-In and enjoy a social event or Take Out and make your own event – Live Lobster, Cooked Lobster, Lobster Rolls – you decide! Pre-ordering online (lobsterfestcary.org) is a must, as quantities often run out early in the day, and we hate to disappoint Lobster Lovers.
