We’re trying out a new feature, giving you a heads up on the announcements in Sunday’s bulletin insert. We will try to have the announcements for the upcoming Sunday published on the Thursday prior to that Sunday. The announcements are edited to make them appropriate for the website. CHURCH DEVELOPMENT DINNER
Please join us for a parish-wide dinner event this Wednesday, October 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Together, we’ll hear from Parish Development Specialist Peter Saros, M.Div. and his exciting plans for helping us to grow into the vision that God has for us. This is a very important event in the life of St. Paul’s – please plan to attend.
A catered dinner will be served, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. Childcare will be available at the Kids’ Club. Please let us know of your availability to attend, along with the number of adults and children, by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org, or by signing up on the poster in the Narthex today. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 14!
• Children’s Chapel will be held today at the 9:00 AM and 11:15 AM services. This Chapel is for children ages 3 through 2nd Grade. Please follow the cross processional to the youth wing.
• Our Children’s Stewardship Basket is collecting for Stop Hunger Now. Please contribute as the children continue their collection toward our $2900 goal that will sponsor a children’s Stop Hunger Now Day on May 15, 2016. Money for this event will be collected June 1, 2015 through May 15, 2016. To date we have collected $572.50.
• Pre-EYC meets TODAY for our annual Reverse Trick or Treating at Glenaire. Wear your costume and bring candy (easy to chew) to share with residents. We will gather in the traffic circle at 10:15am.
• Mark your calendars for our Annual Pumpkin Carving being held on Oct. 25 at 5:00 PM. Food, fun, pumpkins, fellowship, trunk or treat and a carnival! Your family won’t want to miss it! Email Christine.Ingram@stpaulscary.org if you are bringing Chili!
• Sunday School: The lesson today is entitled “Relationships: Getting to Know Others – God’s Encompassing Love.” Middle School meets in the Youth Wing (go straight there, snacks are provided) and High School meets in Room 10. The Education Hour is from 10:10-11:00 am.
• EYC: Oct 11, 4-7pm: Note the change in time because we are going to Green Acres Farm Corn Maze. Drop off and pick up is at the farm (1132 Morrisville Carpenter Rd,. Cary). Group reservations have already been made, but you can still join us and pay there. You have to let me know if you are coming (email@example.com) so we can order enough pizza.
NEWCOMER CLASS: There will be a Newcomer class for all who are interested in learning about St. Paul’s. It will be 3 consecutive Thursday evenings, Oct. 22, Oct. 29, and Nov. 5, in the youth wing, 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. The classes will be led by Father George, while other clergy and ministry leaders will come in to share information about the many opportunities in which to participate. PRESCHOOL: Please support St. Paul’s Preschool by linking your Harris Teeter VIC card. Our number is 4843. You have to link your card every year so even if you were linked last year you still have to re-link your card. You may link your card to more than one school. We appreciate your help!
CENTER FOR HOPE AND HEALING (CHH): Parenting to Increase Internal Motivation and Self-control: Join other parents at The Center for Hope and Healing to learn research based parenting practices that encourage the development of a child/adolescence’s internal motivation and self-control. During this group you will develop a reference point for parenting and teach from that reference point and learn how to communicate with your child in ways that nurture personal responsibility. Empty Nesters: Wednesday, October 21 from 6:30-8p.m. at the Center for Hope and Healing, Melissa Huemmer will give an overview of the changing roles and expectations involved in launching a young adult into the world. Cost is $10. Please register at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gleaning with the Society of St. Andrew-Join us for a “Yam Jam.” All of St. Paul’s is invited to join Pre-EYC at the “Yam Jam” for the Society of St. Andrew on the morning of Oct. 17. We will be gleaning sweet potatoes at a local farm-our harvest will be donated to local food banks and homeless shelters. We won’t know our location until the week of our event (it should be within a one hour drive of Cary), and typical gleaning lasts from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00ish-stay for an hour or more (or whenever the kids get tired). MOMS Ministry will be offering 2 courses this fall: the Original MOMS Course intended for mothers of young children and the TNT MOMS Course for the mothers of teens and tweens (11-18ish). The courses run for 7 weeks with a Celebration Dinner at the end. The classes will meet separately: Original Course: Tuesdays, 10/13 – 11/24 and TNT Course: Mondays, 10/12 – 11/23. These courses provide an opportunity for women to develop self-esteem, relationship skills, and a more defined sense of their own spirituality at a time when they are facing the difficult challenges of raising a family. Backpacks for Veterans drive will be Oct 18 – Nov 1. The following items are needed: rugged new backpacks, travel-size personal care items, flip flops, gym socks, wipes, and t-shirts. You may drop off the items in the Narthex. We also need help in sorting and filling the backpacks in the Parish Hall during coffee hour on Nov 1. The filled backpacks will be delivered to the Durham VA Hospital and dispersed to local homeless/transitioning Veterans. COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS:
October 11: No coffee hour due to a meal packing event for Stop Hunger Now in the Parish Hall.
October 18: The Outreach Committee will be hosting Coffee Hour. Come join them for food and refreshments and to find out more about St. Paul’s many outreach opportunities.
GoDo SERVICE MINISTRY is offering another fun event on October 24 in partnership with A Brush with Kindness, a Habitat for Humanity ministry. This event is open to all St. Paul’s parishioners, 14 and older. We will work in Shifts of 8:30 – 11 & 12:30 – 3:30 on a home in the Raleigh/Durham area that needs repair or renovation. MUSIC – AN INVITATION: St Paul’s Music Ministries seeks to give praise to God through the great variety of music within the Anglican musical tradition. We foster a supportive learning environment in all ensembles and seek opportunities for fun and fellowship alongside the work that is required to maintain excellence in our offerings. And we strive to support the liturgy and encourage congregational participation through those offerings. If you have a talent for choral singing or for playing an instrument, then you should definitely get involved in the Music Ministries at St. Paul’s. STOP HUNGER NOW event is happening October 11 from 10:00 a.m.–noon in the Parish Hall. We will package 10,152 meals. The cost of this event is $2944 ($0.29/meal. Go to http://events.stophungernow.org/StPaulsCary to make a donation.
ADULT EDUCATION: All are welcome to attend forums in the chapel between the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services.

Rainbow Gathering is a group for LGBTQ individuals, friends and families. Our goal is to provide a safe zone where we can celebrate and affirm our identities and fellowship with each other. ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL: Saturday, November 14, will be a great day to shop for handmade items. The proceeds from the festival will go to local outreach programs. We’ll also have food! Two food trucks will be here, offering a selection of fresh lunch options, including vegetarian choices. You’ll be able to sit down and enjoy your meal in the youth wing, where you’ll find a coffee bar and a huge bake sale with a wide variety of tempting treats, including cookies, cakes, pies, breads, and much more. ASP FALL CHORE DAY: Calling all youth patrons! Have a job at home that needs to get done? Need a garden mulched or yard raked? Need a garage cleaned? Help us help you! The youth of St. Paul’s are offering their services to raise money to go on Appalachia Service Project (ASP) Mission Trip this year. The ASP chore day will take place on Saturday, November 7, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. THE LITTLE RED WAGON: The little red wagon is always ready to take your non-perishable food items to be delivered to the Urban Ministries food pantry. Needs right now include peanut butter, cereal, soup, and canned fruit, but whatever is on sale at the grocery store will be used to help families who are having trouble feeding their children. We are always happy to have your extra paper or plastic grocery bags for packing. Thank you for your continued support.
STAY AT HOME PARENTS GROUP (SAHP): Join us in Kids’ Club on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:35 a.m. to socialize with other parents and find playmates for your little ones.
