Evening Prayer (Dec 21, 2016)

Wednesday Night Advent Prayer at 6:30 PM: A Season of Moving Toward Greater Light

In Advent, as the days still grow shorter and thus the light less, the church prayerfully lights candles and lays claim to the greater light that breaks forth in Christ.  On Wednesday evenings, November 30, December 7, 14, and 21, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the chapel, there will be a simple service of Evening Prayer.  The gospel readings appointed in the Book of Common Prayer gently guide us through reflection on Jesus as he confronts us as a restless and hopeful people seeking God and as those who wait for the birth in time that changes all time.  The readings from Isaiah promise hope and purification of our lives as a way of waiting upon God.

There is so much tension in the air and in our hearts just now.  The holidays we love can also exhaust us as well.  This time of prayer is offered as a gentle time to be in faithful company and open before the great gift of God’s care.  Please join us as you are able, or use this as a sweet discipline as we watch for Christ, reborn again in our lives.
