Summer Enrichment Program – CRITICAL NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church provides enrichment programming and healthy meals for families in need in our local community during the break from traditional school. St. Paul’s partners with other Cary congregations (Cary Presbyterian Church, Greenwood Forest Baptist Church and the Kirk of Kildaire) to provide volunteers.  We’ve gotten word that there has been a high demand for the program with over 75 elementary children, 18 youth, and 20 preschoolers registered.  That’s good news! But right now, they don’t have the number of volunteers that are needed.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to help make this program a success.

  • This half-day program is held at The Kirk of Kildaire, and runs from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 20-August 17.  Volunteers can sign up for whatever day(s) work for their schedule, and do not need to commit for the full 9 weeks.
  • This opportunity allows entire families to volunteer together. It is a great source of service hours and references for teenagers, and parent volunteers can bring their children to participate with the kids in camp. This offers a wonderful experience for all!
  • Volunteers can choose their date(s) and which age group or activity they’d like to volunteer with. Work in the kitchen, read to children or lead a group activity, it’s up to you. Sign up here.

This is a great way to address community needs, and have fun with a great group of people — volunteers, participants, paid staff and VISTA associates alike. Questions? Contact Lynn Tovar at lztovar@uwalumni.com.
