Youth News (Sep 15, 2019)

Dear Parents and Youth,

I just want to start by saying that I had an amazing time and so much fun with everyone on Sunday. Thank you to all the parents who came to the parent meeting . If you missed that and want to be caught up to speed let me know and we can chat. Thank you to all the youth who came and made the Kick-Off the success that it was. Thank you to all of our volunteers who came and kept everything organized and together.

This upcoming week we’re going to be watching Harry Potter (Which movie? Well you’re just going to have to come and find out!) and looking at it through a social justice and biblical lens. So come with an open mind and be ready to relax and eat well.

While you’re here, I’d like to ask that you look over the different availability in the signups for the upcoming semester. Please, sign up where you can. If you need time to think about what the rest of your life looks like around that, I completely understand. Do not forget, YOU are a vital part of this ministry. Without the time dedicated by previous volunteers, we would not have built the youth group that we have today.

Youth Ministry News and Events:

  • Regular EYC September 15th, 22nd, and 29th (5pm-7pm): For EYC in the months of September and October, we will be watching and going into in depth discussions surrounding Harry Potter and connecting the themes of the story to the gospels, teachings from Job, and social justice issues.
  • Confirmation September 22nd: Don’t forget, the Bishop will be joining us at our Sunday service to confirm and receive members of our congregation. I hope you’re able to be there for this wonderful occasion. And if you’d like to help with Coffee Hour that Sunday, you can use the sign up link here (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4eaeab2cab9-confirmation) and give Lanny Wase an extra hand.
  • New Volunteers Always Welcome: We are back in full swing! Which means that we’re going to need some help. Your age, how much teen culture you know, and whether or not you’re a Biblical Scholar are not important. What is important is your love for God, a willingness to listen to (and learn from) the youth, and a great attitude. Email Zack Rugen at youth@stpaulscary.org for more information.

Thanks again to everyone who made the Kick-Off a huge success!

God Bless,

Zachary Rugen
Interim Youth Program Coordinator
